Should congress vote this week to give Obama Administration new power to send health insurance into bankruptcy?
Read this NY Times description of the NEW power that Obama will have based on clauses he added at the last minute:

“You are not necessarily helping the consumer if you keep rates artificially low,” Ms. Praeger said. “What’s worse for the consumer: having a premium increase or having to pay the full amount of a medical expense because the company is out of business?”

You GOTTA LOVE this guy!
The government tells HEALTH CARE INSURES – what that must cover. They restrict them as to where the limits of where then operate. Now he’s limiting what the can charge – to provide the services they do!
Health Insurers – are PRIVATE COMPANIES. What business does the government have telling the WHAT POLICIES they should WRITE, What they HAVE to cover, They can’t sell to the guy across the street who happens to be in the next COUNTY or STATE… or How much to pay for it.
Especially because they may be a competitor someday. Okay – I want YOU to cover pre-existing condition, I want YOU to cover Trips to the dentist, I want you to not sell to these 30,000 people because they are across some state line… you don’t get to charge a DIME more the $2000 per year, although it will cost you $2500 per year.
Meantime – when I become a COMPETITOR… I can sell to whoever I want, I will get everyone to pay for my services (through taxes) – I don’t HAVE to make a profit – I can (and already do in medicare) deny anything I damn well please – including PRE-EXISTING conditions which will be too costly… I’ll appoint a PANEL that will AGREE WITH ME that you should be denied coverage if you’re old or it’s too expensive… I’m going to create a huge bureaucracy that (guess what) EVERYONE gets to pay for… and this will all be FAIR.
