Is There A Double Standard At Political Rallies?
I recall at some GOP politcal rallies, in the not too distant past, where protestors wearing anti-war or anti-Bush tshirts would be escorted off the premises, sometimes even arrested. Now, it seems, the right can get away with wearing guns strapped to their legs at pres Obama rallies with impunity.
Does that seem to smell of a double standard? Do you really think that would African Americans have been allowed to show up, and STAY, bearing arms at a pres Bush or Dick Cheney rally?
What’s scary is not that people are bringing guns (well yeah, that’s scary too)…but what I think is more telling is that the right is actually defending this irresponsible behavior.
Just because it’s “legal” doesn’t always mean it’s a smart thing to do.
And you’re right…I remember the flap the right made when that Iraqi reporter threw a shoe at Bush. A shoe.
If anyone, regardless of race, had carried a loaded weapon to any Bush/Cheney/Republican political meeting, that person would have been carted off to Gitmo.
It’s not technically a “double standard”.
It just proves the right has NO standards; of decency, or responsibility, or integrity.
