anti obama reasons

On January 20th 2009, America and the world had just witnessed history in the making. It was the time where the world stood in awe as the impossible had just happened. Who knew that Barack Hussein Obama would be the first (if not ever) black president to run America, the superpower of the world. For most people, there was a time to rejoice as they had just witnessed history. For others however, fear and despair had struck the hearts.
It has been over a year now since that momentous day but the true question lies, has Barack Obama fulfilled his duty as president and promised America that change? It has been a roller coaster ride for Barack Obama as the country is divided 50/50 about whether Obama has what it takes to become president for a second term. I for one believe that Barack Obama is a gracious and noble man and I also believe that he will help US citizens through tough times. I’m sure that there are a lot of people out there who would totally disagree with my statement and I fully accept that but, I also believe that his intentions are morally just.
Yes, there are aspects to which I disagree with in particular, sending thousands more troops to Afghanistan. Billions of dollars are being pumped into a war that cannot be won. Currently as it stands, America is facing an economic crisis and more pressure is exerted on America as they have to pay a huge debt to China. If America keeps deploying troops to Afghanistan, the costs will be severe and I am not just talking about the economic impacts. Furthermore, the longer we invade Afghanistan, terrorism will most certainly increase and become more devastating thus resulting in economic impacts. I say abolish the war and invest in funding that truly matters which is education and medicine.
In regards to the passing of the health reform, I for one believe that this truly was Obama’s greatest ever thing he has done for his country during his first year as president. He is promoting stability which should later in the future reduce rising medical costs. Many Americans are outraged with this scheme because there is this assumption that poor needy citizens will benefit from this scheme more than hard working Americans. On the one hand I can agree because the idea that your hard earned cash is paying medical bills to someone who does not earn a living and jobless sounds unfair. However, on the other hand, America is a Christian nation and as you should know, Jesus told us to love thy neighbours. Well, isn’t that what you are doing? So, by being taxed, your money is helping to save lives, saving lives of the vulnerable and the needy because I for one know that no person should die like that, no one should be left to die on the streets. No person deserves to die in those circumstances. More so, rising health costs have increased exponentially leaving millions of US citizens not being able to afford insurance 46.3 million in fact.
There are people who fear him and fear about what the nation will become. As I’m sure you’ve heard in the news, everyone is scared that Obama is making America a more socialist and capitalist country. Also, to an extremist point of view, some people fear him because of his Muslim background. However, we must acknowledge that Barack Obama is an American citizen, a true patriarch of his country. I’m certain that he won’t send America in the wrong direction as I for one believe his intentions have been good. He also passed down a reform promising to create jobs to avoid the huge unemployment rates. Does that sound like a bad man to you? Unemployment rates stand at 7.2%.
Overall, I believe that Barack Obama has had a profound effect on US citizens, some good and some bad. Although he promised change and during his first year as president, not much has changed as much as he expected it would but, I still believe that he is true to his word. Also, change is a process that cannot be rushed. I for one believe that change might not happen now, nor next week or even the next couple of months but some day, change will happen. If we keep hold of this belief, I am certain that he will do great things and make America what it is now.
Therefore, I believe that Barack Obama has a lot cut out for him but, I am confident that he will win over the hearts of most Americans. However, I must point out that I may be a little biased in my reasoning because I am British and not a citizen in America. It’s only in America where you are witnessing the changes and if I was an American citizen, it would undoubtedly have an effect on my life to. However, at the end of the day, he is the president of the leading super power of the world which in turn will have an effect on the world. So far, since nothing drastic has happened worldwide, I think it’s safe to assume that Obama is doing his job. Let us also remember that he is fixing all the problems that George Bush has left behind.
