Are government regulations in the economy such a bad idea?
With the ideology of “laissez faire” capitalism coming under increasing criticism for the economic depression we are currently in, do we need more regulations of capitalism? Is government regulations necessarily good for the working class and, yes, businesses?
There have almost always been checks on corporate power. Governments used to have the power to revoke corporate charters if a company abused its power. Teddy Roosevelt broke up the monopolies and paved the way for the SEC.
The government has *always* had some sort of regulation over the economy. In moderation, it’s not a bad thing.
