If my bank files bankruptcy , will I loose all my money?
Does the FDIC concept really pay back , if the bank files for bankruptcy?is there a time frame in which the FDIC pays back?
I know the answer to this question. I read in a magazine (i think fortune), that if a bank goes under the government will have to write you a check and it can take 3 weeks.
It is EXTREMELY unlikely that a bank will go under. Usually another bank buys it over and you will never know the difference.
Remember if your bank changes names, they have to stick with the terms of the other bank. Ex: fees and min balances.
They will send you a letter stating you have 6 months to switch accounts or charging new fees before they start change things up on you.
I have put away 1 months cash in my mattress. Shh – don’t tell anyone.
