did a voulantary repo in ohio on my new car…….?
to try to avoid bankrptcy i let my new jeep go to auction was 7500 , balance that i am paying 250. a month..balance is under 5000. now. i just checked my credit report and the balance is being reported as a charge off… the lender was ameri-credit and the office that i mail my money to is dallas texas… sort of angry because this looks like i was missing payments and they came got the car… do i have to pay balance because it is charged off? i am honestly considering bankruptcy now because of how this was handled.. thank u for any input…
Yes your responsible for the balance.
In all probability the account will be bought by a third party collector who will continue collection procedures.
This is done via mail, phone calls and in some instances personal contact.
If an agreement to settle the debt cannot be made, the account may be referred to a collections attorney who can take further legal action such as a lawsuit.
