bankruptcy awaiting closing
Bankruptcy Chapter 7?
I opened the pacer web site to check on my bankruptcy, its says Debtor dischaged and 9-21-2009. Does this mean My bankruptcy was discharged as of today? Then site says awaiting closing? Does This mean That all went Thur……….?
Yes, it means you received your discharge on 9-21-2009.
The issuance of the discharge order and the closing of the case are 2 different events, completely unrelated. The discharge order is what you want.
Basically (VERY roughly speaking) you get your discharge when the judge finishes his or her paperwork. The case is closed when the trustee finishes his or her paperwork. Depending on how backlogged the trustee is, the case may not be closed for several months after the judge issues the discharge order … but unless there is anything unusual going on (such as a fraud investigation, or the liquidation of your assets) it really doesn’t matter to you when the case is closed. The main thing that matters to you is the discharge order – which was issued on 9-21-09.
