Do GI Bill benefits count as income for bankruptcy?
I’m filling out some questionnaires for my bankruptcy attorney, and I was wondering if GI Bill benefits are considered as part of your monthly income when taking the Means test. With the GI Bill payments, I am right around the means for my area (depending on over time hours, I am just under or just over the means).
I have used Stafford loans to pay for school while using GI bill benefits for bills, but I no longer want to do that (I want to use my GI bill for school and leave the Stafford loans alone).
