How long do i have to wait to apply for an auto loan after i filed for bankruptcy?
My husband and I went to court in Feb 2009 for our bankruptcy (in california) do to lost of my husbands job . We haven’t got our discharged papers yet(our lawyer had told us that the last day for an appeal was May 22) We were considering in getting a new car from a dealer since we had bad experienced with used cars. Now how long do we have to wait to apply for an auto loan after bk? Do we have to wait for the discharged papers to apply for the auto loan? Honest answers are appreciated!
Interesting, you are in the process of screwing many creditors out of several thousands of dollars, you’re not even done yet and you’re looking to take on more debt already? Well yeah, you can apply for a loan any time you wish. But every creditor you apply to will be aware of the last creditors you screwed over for the next 7 years. More likely than not, it will be a long time before you can get a car loan. I suggest you save your money and buy a beater for cash and get used to the type of life most recently bankrupted people live. No new cars, no credit cards, no vacations, no loans of any type.
