bankruptcy divorce community property

If my wife files for bankruptcy, how can her creditors “come after” me?
my wife met with a lawyer to talk about ch7 for some debt she incurred on her own, before she married me.
the lawyer told her that the creditors might come after me because I have good credit and investments.
how is that even possible?
I’ve never signed for any loan with her, and I’ve never used any of the funds from her credit card.
How can they come after me?
She asked the lawyer about divorce. He said that california was a “community property” state and that even then, they could come after me for up to 4 years!!
is there anyway I can protect myself and not get involved?
has anyone else dealt with this?
One of the MANY advantages of marriage my friend. You have a piece of paper saying you are married to her and that is public record. Combined household income. Sorry but you are (Rhymes with lewd)
