what is the best way to file your chapter 7 bankruptcy?
w/out any lawyers.i really need a self explantory route preferbly ,bankruptcy for dummies
Step 1) Call the Trustee’s Office – you need a list of approved financial education classes to take. Cannot even file until completed.
Step 2) Find out the median wage in your state…..if your income is above that – Chap13 – below that amount – Chap7
Step 3) Fill out Schedule A – J – I think D is unsecured creditors List ALL creditor’s (including Auntie Em) and collection agencies….get mailing addresses for all – if its not listed, its not dischargable….
Step 4) Taxes, child support, student loans, are non-dischargable…
Step 5) Go to the library – learn about your exemptions – some states use Federal, others have state, California has two sets of state exemptions..
You don’t need a lawyer, but you will need patience and perseverance. You can create your own docs or buy them at an office supply store, or some Courts have them.
