bankruptcy health related

will going bankrupt stop me studying medicine?
I lost my job sometime ago (not due to anything i had done) and have not been able to find another, i am currently considering going bankrupt due to some outstanding debts. It has been suggested to me i consider going to medical school to train as a doctor as i previously worked in social care and health care for 10 years and I have extremely good A levels and other work related qualifications. although i do not want to go bankrupt i have reached a point that i feel the effects of the debt are having an adverse effect on my health and if i am unable to service them i need to find another solution. I genuinely feel i am capable of passing a medical degree but a unsure if bankruptcy will affect my chances of gaining a place at medical school. can anyone offer an answer?
Thanks Nat, i have been offered funding from a large organisation so course fees etc are not a problem. i was more concerned about the possible implications of gaining security clearance.
Bankruptcy shouldn’t effect your place in a Medical school, no. If you have the qualifications then you should be fine. However, you DO have to pay for medical school, and if you’re going bankrupt, then getting a loan to suffice the payment may prove to be a little difficult. Find a professional who you can talk to about it, and see what they have to say.
