bankruptcy immigration

if i would applied for banckruptcy, would that interfer with immigration petition of residence?
im not a resident, it seems like i have to go for bankruptcy, would that not let me get residence?
Yes, I believe it would. It would show you are not capable of paying your bills and probably leaning towards the government for benefits.
