bankruptcy japan

American Airlines is willing to help Japan Airlines with $1billion?
But, Japan Automakers would not throw a life saver to American automakers when they were filing bankruptcy. Am I missing something here?
The thing I am missing here is: how can American Airlines afford to invest a billion dollars in Japan Airlines whne they cannot afford to meet their union workers demands???
Yes, you are missing the point. AA is not bailing out JAL, they buy a piece of it. JAL is on sale right now. Nobody want to invest in a company when the company overpriced, they buy it when the company is undervalued. That is the smart move of AA, when economy recovered, travel load up, AA will make a ton of money from it. JAL is considered one of the best airline but it was in the funked right now. If AA not buying JAL right now, the European will get a piece of it, JAL is already asked Japanese government.
About GM and Japanese automaker, If you want to know, Toyota want to help GM by raising the price of their cars. You know customer not going to pay the higher price for it. And GM was already in deep trouble already. Japanese lost billions too.. At the high of 2007, the world market consume 15-16 millions cars, as right now the figure 10-11 million. In 2 years, they lost 5 millions cars in productions. American or Japanese, they are in down ward pressure and over supply. They have to adjust to production capacity. So painful for american cars maker than japanese.
But did you know that, most japanese people paying their cars by cash? they rarely use credit like us.
by the way, GM and Chrysler already in deep trouble before crisis happen, their business model is broken. In common sense, if you are the businessman, you are willing to put the money to a company already bankrupt? I don’t think so.
GM +Chrylser already lost customer way before the crisis. Customers do not support them, what option do they have? And bonehead CEO going Washington with private jet. they make people more angrier.
I hope I answer your question clearly
