Can I keep my car if I file bankruptcy?
I know there are some stipulations about how much your car can be worth. We don’t have really expensive cars. a four year old Saturn and an 8 year old sunfire.
We need decent cars to get to work, plus we have kids.
If I file for bankruptcy, will courts allow us to keep these?
It depends on your state and whether or not you owe money on the cars. But, generally you can keep the ones you don’t owe money on, and if you still have a loan, you have to reaffirm the debt to keep the car.
