how can i find bankruptcy records?
i wanna check up on somebody’s supposed bankruptcy claim. doing a lil snooping but i want to insure that this guy is legit. It is in Cuyahoga County Ohio
Bankruptcy is filed in Federal bankruptcy court, not in municipal, county or state courts.
Go to the Federal courthouse in the district in which the bankruptcy was filed and ask to review the record. Or you may be able to find the records on PACER (Public Access to Court Electronic Records) online, if you have enough info to identify the records you need. Anybody can sign up for PACER access, but you need to supply a payment method (usually a credit card). PACER charges $0.08 per page.
