Bankruptcy- Help with Means Test for California PLEASE HELP!?
I know i can get the means test online but they’re not clear. What are the expenses i should deduct? (food? gas? car insurance? car payment? car entire loan? credit card payment or entire debt?
I’m in California.
I co-signed for my parents Acura and now they went bankrupt and i’m stuck with it. It’s upside down about $8,000 + it’s a lease with $550/mt pymt i can’t make. My husband and I were going to file for his US citizenship (I’m US citizen btw) if i go bankrupt will this affect his paper work? PLEASE HELP!
$8000 is only the penalty on the mileage there’s still 10 more months on the lease and after the lease is paid the residual value would be about $16,000. My credit was ran through the mud by my parents i went from a 700 score to low 500.
Bankrtupcy won’t affect your husband’s citizenship, but it is an awful thing for your credit if you are basing it on the $500 payment. It will ruin your credit for 10 years. Plus, if you don’t reaffirm the debt, they are going to lose the car anyway.
So, skip that step by making them give back the car and go without a car, or get the cheapest P.O.S. car that will safely get them around. You can buy an ugly, but driveable, car for just three of those $550 payments.
Or, take out a personal loan from a credit union for $8,000 and pay the surrender fee to have the dealership take it back.
Or, now that your parents have been relieved of their other obligations, make them pay you the $550 you are being hit up for!!!! It’s their car, and their debt!!! You shouldn’t suffer for their mistake.
Filing bankruptcy for something as small as this will ruin you for a long time and make everything you want to get on credit in the future very expensive.
