What are the steps to filing for bankruptcy?
I have an overwhelming amount in credit card debt. I have been out of work because of depression and now, obviously, it has gotten much harder to find a job, even though I have been searching. I am seriously thinking about filing for bankruptcy in order to start over. I need some advice on what to do in order to get this process started. Thanks.
I don’t believe that the current bankruptcy laws allow the setting aside of credit card debt. The bankruptcy court will however determine what you can afford to pay on each card per week or month and you MUST pay that amount. It will be much less than your current payments, however. The first thing you should do is gather a listing of ALL your debts. Contact a bankruptcy attorney for a consultation.
