can bankruptcy affect employment

Can you sue for restitution if a clerical error has caused damages beyond repair?
I was wrongfully charged with domestic violence in 2001 and accepted a minor misdemeanor for what the charge should have been in the first place, disorderly conduct. I have been unemployed for a year and employers are sceptical on hiring with the domestic violence/assualt charge showing up on my backround check. My attorney advised that this is a clerical error and should depict the amended charge of disorderly conduct. My question(s)knowing this is an unprofessional forum. 1).Do I have a right to have this corrected immediately since it is affecting employment opportunities? 2). Can I sue for restitution due to this fact?, I had 3 good opportunities lost due to my backround check, of which any of these jobs would have made it possible to keep from having to file bankruptcy due to losing 1/2 my earnings when our plant closed a year ago.
How come your attorney didn’t talk to the clerk of court? You don’t have a cause of action to sue, but you do have the remedy of obtaining an attorney that not only advises you, but actually works for you (it’s called being diligent and competent). He should have done this for you.
