can bankruptcy stop garnishments

Can Garnishment or Freeze of Funds Be Reversed or Stopped by Declaring Bankruptcy?
Ok, my mom has a creditor that has frozen funds in her savings account that has been harrasing her for payment and we have been trying to get credit counseling for her and now have been told she should just declare bankruptcy. My question is will that stop or reverse the hold of any funds being garnished by the creditor?
Yes. Once she retains an attorney and they file her case, she will get a case# and it stops all creditors for collecting anything! She needs to find a local qualified bankruptcy attorney and get her a free consultation or free hour consult to see what she qualifies for. The laws have changed, so they would be looking at her income, debts, assets, and taxes. But, they will be able to tell her what she qualifies for, and sometimes if someone pays the retainer right away, they will do what they can an emergency filing…this gets the garnishments stop sooner than waiting to get the case all filed. Good Luck!!
