company bankruptcy unemployment

Just wondering if anyone knows?
If the company i work for filed for bankruptcy could i collect unemployment?
Yes, if you are entitled to unemployment compensation.
Any business that has employees on the payroll has an automatic obligation to submit payroll taxes to the government. Regardless if the government collects or not is a seperate issue from unemployment.
So if you are entitled to unemployment compensation, it does not matter if the company is out of business or bankrupt. The unemployment department will calculate what you can collect based on your W-2 earnings from past quarters.
Every state is different but most say if you got fired for misconduct you can not collect and if you quit you can not collect; but if you got let go because lack of work or even poor job performance – then you can collect.
