fafsa and bankruptcy
EFC is $28k but parents can’t help.?
My parents were horrible with their money and had to file bankruptcy last year. They have no spare change to help with college expenses.
I am 19. I live by myself but according to FAFSA I am still a dependent student. I can not qualify for anything need based because of their income ($120k a year) but if I don’t put their tax info on my fafsa I can only qualify for an unsubsidized loan.
Is there anything I can do to get money for school that do not include my parents?
Anything military would help too. I would like to do AFROTC in school. I am not a citizen, so I do not qualify for scholarships though.
Try applying for scholarships. If you’re still a dependant you still have to give your parents Tax info.
