how does bankruptcy stop foreclosure
Our landlord is filing bankruptcy, how much time do we have?
Our landlord stopped by last night and told us he is filing chapter 13 bankruptcy. He told us we probably have 90 days or so before anything will happen. My problem is he suffers from severe depression, on severel meds and is in and out of the stress center. He can’t remember things we have discussed in the past about the house. I dont like my families security and stability in this mans hands. He claims the payments are still current on the house and it’s not going into foreclosure, he is just including it in the bankruptcy. Should we start looking for another place? Or just sit and wait on a call from the bank? I don’t want a phone call saying we have 48 hours to get out. That would be a nightmare.
The house will remain his for months, the bank is not even likely to agree to this, they are going to ask to be excluded.
If he ever does loose it you will be given at least 30 days to move, in many states 60 days.
