Should we threaten our creditors with bankruptcy?
My spouse thinks we should get a lawyer and threaten our creditors with bankruptcy, while having no real intention on following through with this… it is an empty threat (we will not really file), but think maybe the credit card companies will respond by reducing our debt. What are the legal ramifications? Pros? Cons? Thanks!!!
I think it is idiotic as well. It isn’t my idea…it is my spouse and father-in-law that have devised this glorious plan!
Well….they might respond to this by taking you to court….so be careful with your bluff…If they do this you might actually have to follow though with filing for BK….
Also, after a certain amount of time has passed and you haven’t filed, they’re going to figure out that you’re bluffing….At best this might buy you some time….it’s not a permanent solution.
