Do you think online degrees are worth it?
I am planning to attend SNHU (Southern New Hampshire University) in September. They offer distant education (online programs). I am going to get a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology through their online program. Do you think its worth it? They are a brick and mortar university that HAPPENS to offer online degrees. Not like the University of Phoenix or Kaplan University who are only known for being online schools. Barack Obama (the president) has made a speech there and MTV has hosted shows there as well (just saying, in case it matters). When I enroll they will send me my text books that I will need for my classes. Do you think it is a good idea? I am 20 years old.
Spiritually speaking….
I’m not sure about nowadays, but SNHU was really into setting up shop and sending instructors to teach on military bases. I have several business classes through them that in no way contributed to my degree.
For me, actually attending classes is where the enjoyment of learning comes in to play. For the same price you can attend a state university with great professors and classmates that keep you on track. From what I know about on-line classes, they seem to only be about reading the textbooks and writing papers that are probably never even read by the professor.
On-line may be better for the extreme introvert, but then again psychology probably isn’t the best career for that type of personality. I am a science major although if you hope to really understand people as a psychology major, I would think the classroom is the place to start the process.
