Can I Create an Art piece of Obama and market it for sale?
I am a stone sculpture artist. I have never done a public figure before, but would like to create a sort of comical depiction of Obama in stone. Don’t worry, not in a negative way, but an attempt to lighten the mood of this grim and negative election. I support Obama, for the record.
Are there any copyright violations or laws against allowing me to do this? He is a public figure, so my understanding is that it is legal, but I want to make sure first? Not into getting sued. Thanks!
As long as it’s only “inspired” by Obama, you’re probably okay.
But it can’t be a close match – he has a right to his image.
