What are your opinions on Shepard Fairey?
Ok so he’s the notorious “artist” who created the Obama”Hope” poster but in reality he did not really create it, he just added his own color and design to an original photo not taken by him. His artwork truthfully is eye-catching yet the nagging truth behind them is that-IN MY OWN OPINION- they are plagiarized . He takes original pieces of art and changes the texture and color and adds in the “Andre the Giant” logo and “Obey” slogan and calls it his own. It would be okay …..if he had just given credit to the real artist, whom he took the image from….BUT he doesn’t…BUT THEN AGAIN..that’s just me…WHAT DO YOU THINK?
He has a history of illegally appropriating other artist’s work. His HOPE poster was “lifted” from another artist’s copyrighted work and Fairey didn’t even give credit or compensation, now that’s lame.
