President Obama’s trip to Africa. wouldn’t it be fitting…….?
If the first lady Michelle Obama wore traditional African garments like an Ashanti kenti cloth in Ghana. The symbolism will show the World the American dream comes in all colours and all cultures.
I have seen African americans visit Ghana wearing tradditional clothes for weddings etc. the respect they get is overwhelming. And after all they are the first African American presidential family. Michelle’s roots could very well be from the Ashanti region of Ghana. It’s where the first slave ships set of for the Americas. Eventually reaching the white house……!
Why would honouring your host be a gimmick? Even Queen Elizabeth, Michelle’s Godmother covered her head in Arabia. Or visiting India and greeting somebody with your hands together. Its not a p.r stunt or gimmick. It show’s friendship and respect and what Americans call “A lotta class”.
Then why didn’t Lady Bush wear a bodice and gilts when she visited Scotland? Oh, I’m sorry. The white race would be embarrassing to represent.
