texas bankruptcy laws

does consolidating mean the same thing as cleaning/repairing your credit?
i really don’t want to spend longer that 5 years repairing my credit so i would like to know which is the easiest way to get back on track, i have terrible credit, when i was younger i applied for so many credit card and cash advance loans which i was able to pay at the time, now, i am in the state of texas so will that law that bush just passed apply only to those who have filed bankruptcy or what?
consolidating is combining all of your bills/collections together. You then make monthly payments on them. From what I understand it’s not a good idea to do this. I had pretty bad credit as well and I what I did was get a copy of my credit report and paid off the collections as the money became available. This way I had control over my debt and was able to keep better track.
Hope I helped
