Opening a bank account when listed with Check Services?
Because I am declaring Bankruptcy and have an auto account with Wells Fargo that will be part of that bankruptcy they have listed me with Check Services which seems to mean that no bank will let me open an account….. I have checked local credit unions and they have also said “no go”. Does anyone have any advice or any pointers on any financial institution that will let me have an account? Help!
check around at small local banks… they may let you open a savings account, but no one will let you open a checking account, have a debit card or possibly even an atm card. You can still get money orders/ cashier’s checks from a savings account and direct deposit into one. Since savings accounts sometimes limit you to a handful of withdrawls per month, you will need to budget your money well. I also recommend a prepaid card, like a visa gift card or mastercard gift card. That will let you budget and be able to spend wherever visa or mastercard are accepted.
